We are taking a break from recording to make the trip north to Stroudsburg’s Sherman Theater.  This is our first show since December and we’re really excited to get out and play the music we’ve been busy recording.

The long and winding road..

So we listened to the bass and drum tracks and they sound bigger and better then we remember. Very exciting!!

Scratch vocals were recorded and our next step is laying down guitars. The rhythm is first at bat.

Friday: set up and then knocked out 2 songs

Saturday: 4 songs, lunch, and 2 more songs

Sunday: 2 songs, break, 1 song, break, 1 song… collapse.

After Derek makes heads and tails with what we did over the weekend, we’ll come back and start on guitars.

St. Parsnip Sessions

So… tonight it begins.  After going through pre-production and rehearsals since January, we finally hit the record button.

We are planning on spending about 20 hours laying down bass and drums this weekend. Wish us luck!!

 

This weekend…

the madness begins.  The official start of our new album will start on Friday night.  Bass and Drums are first on the agenda.

 

 

Pre-production is over!!

Last night was the official end of pre-production.  T’was an exhausting undertaking, but very well worth it.

Next stop: We hit the record button in mid-March.

 

Final Pre-Pro

Last night we completed our last pre-production session with song #13.

Our next step will be a fine tuning phase.  This consists of getting our transitions in and out of sections much smoother and playing to the emotional peaks and valleys of the songs.  We will also make the hard decision of deciding what 2 songs won’t make it to the album.

Recording of the bass and drums will be done in Mid-March, so we’re looking at hopefully finishing the album by late April / early May.

 

Day 5: pre-production

3 out of 4 Parsnips were battling some infectious disease. We all made it through alive and got through 3.2 songs.

We have 1 more song to work on before we go into the fine tuning phase. That phase will iron out any kinks and determine what songs make it to the album before recording.

Derek is kicking our butts, but the HUGE difference he has made is just amazing.

Our friend filmed the last session and will be at others to make a mini doc about the making of the album.
